Jen Segger - Endurance Coach, Athlete & Guide

Professional Endurance Coach

For well over two decades, Jen Segger has empowered athletes of all levels—from total beginners to elites—on their journeys toward endurance success. With clients spanning North America, Europe, Australia, and Africa, Jen is a sought-after expert in endurance training protocols and a leader in the coaching industry.

Jen’s coaching philosophy goes beyond individualized training plans. She provides holistic guidance, including sport-specific nutrition strategies tailored to meet the demands of rigorous training. As a certified strength and conditioning coach, Jen integrates prehab, mobility, and progressive strength programming into her athletes’ routines, ensuring a well-rounded approach to performance and injury prevention. More recently, Jen has carved out a niche in supporting female athletes, focusing on maintaining hormonal health while navigating the unique challenges of endurance sports.

In addition to her own private coaching practice, Jen is involved with 29029 Everesting and is also the head coach for Terra Ventures.

A Legacy of Coaching & Community

Jen’s passion for coaching stems from her roots in Squamish, BC, where she owned and operated a high-performance training center, “Challenge by Choice,” for nearly a decade. Following the gym’s closure, Jen continued to serve her community by running an indoor cycling studio, providing a dedicated space for local cyclists to train during harsh winters. For over 10 years, Jen co-race directed Squamish’s longest surviving trail run, Loop the Lakes and passionately designed the courses for the Mind Over Mountain Squamish Adventure Race Series from 2008-2011. She hosted countless trail and mountain running clinics during her 20 years in the Sea to Sky Corridor.

RunBC Adventures: Trail Running & Fastpacking

In 2018, Jen launched RunBC Adventures, a passion project that combines her love for coaching with her adventurous spirit. As a certified ACMG hiking guide, Jen leads multi-day trail running and fastpacking trips across British Columbia and beyond, helping runners connect with nature through challenging, transformative experiences in wild and remote places.

Elite Endurance Athlete

Jen discovered her passion for adventure sports at the age of 21, quickly rising to prominence by racing full-time with elite American teams, including DARTnuun and GoLite Timberland. Today, she continues to compete at the highest levels of endurance sports as a key member of Team Bones and Team Expedition Canada.

With multiple British Columbia FKT (Fastest Known Time) records to her name, Jen thrives on the exhilaration of exploring untamed, awe-inspiring landscapes through ultra trail running, adventure racing, and mountain expeditions. Her race choices reflect her deep love for exploration, often prioritizing breathtaking, remote locations over competition alone.

An elite endurance athlete with an insatiable drive for adventure, Jen embodies the spirit of pushing limits, discovering new horizons, and embracing the extraordinary.

Now back on Vancouver Island, Jen and her partner are raising their adventurous 11-year-old son alongside their trail-loving dog, Oshi. When not racing, Jen embraces her coastal lifestyle and is actively working toward earning her private pilot’s license—a new frontier in her love for exploration and discovery.
